Vision:  Preserving an Independent Occoquan through Comprehensive Planning, Responsible Stewardship, & Managed Growth in Keeping with Occoquan History.

CAPSTONE:  Preservation of an Independent Historic Occoquan.

The preservation of Occoquan’s history, character, business community, fiscal health, and independent town status is what I consider “Town Preservation”.  Town Preservation, and the impact on the community as a whole, is the guiding principle that defines any decision I make or action I take. As a historic community within the DC Metro area, there is both a danger and an opportunity when it comes to Occoquan’s growth and development. Any action we take must be well formulated and calculated in its approach, which is why I have focused the last six years on the continued review and revision of our Town code, policies, and standard operating procedures. These guiding documents, combined with the fair and unbiased application of these rules by the Town Council, Staff and Committees put us in a strong legal and ethical position to preserve the Town.

Devotion to Occoquan's History and Community.

Occoquan residents, business owners, and property owners alike have a deep affection for and commitment to the Town. We are fortunate to have so many of these civic minded people to volunteer time, effort and feedback toward accomplishment of greater community goals. This is what makes Occoquan more than just a bedroom community in the Metro DC area. I continue to encourage these qualities in conjunction with the steadfast efforts of a professional and dedicated Town Staff to make us the very best independent Occoquan we can be.

While we must keep pace with changing times, Occoquan does not want to change who we are. Through planned and controlled growth, we can continue our history of small community, targeted development, historic business district preservation, riverfront improvements, and forty-seven years of Arts & Crafts Show success.

Thinking strategically about where we are and where we want to be, we can accomplish our goals and protect this way of life for all those that live, work, and travel here, now and in the future.
